One of the best things about January is that all the annual editions of the top bridal magazines are published. They bring with them so many wonderful ideas, inspiration and glamorous images. This year i was particularly excited about Queensland's Discerning Bride magazine hitting the stands... and for a very good reason too.

Late last year, the wonderful editor Carla Adams contacted me and invited me to submit some articles and details about what's on my wedding radar right now. During the process of writing, I contacted some photographers to request copies of their beautiful photo's to accompany my stories. I was completely overwhelmed with the kindness and willingness of some of the worlds best wedding photographers to supply me with copies of (and the free rights to!!) their photographs. I'm talking about Elizabeth Messina (aaarrggghhh... i die !!!), Jose Villa (aarrgghh, i've got one last breathe left... i die again), Tec Petaja, John & Joseph Photography and local genius Marcus Bell of Studio Impressions. Seriously, how many of us are guilty of skimming through magazines only looking at the pictures? A picture tells a thousand words, and without the support, kindness and generosity of these photographers i'm not sure my words would have made it to print. I can't even begin to express how forever grateful i am to these photographers. And i beg readers to admire and enjoy the work of the photographers who are featured alongside my articles in this years Discerning Bride magazine. They truly deserve the credit.

I can't begin to tell you how much i ache for this themed photo shoot courtesy of Tying The Knot Wedding Co-ordination. Not only do i absolutely love enjoying fresh oysters in Australia in summer, but i also love the fact that you can use the natural shell for all kinds of decoration. The gorgeous boxed, burlap and pearl invitation in this shoot is to die for... as is the spectacular oyster shell chandelier. It just goes to show that your wedding soiree is only limited by your imagination.

Majestic Morocco

Last week I was in Morocco, a country i would love to spend some more time exploring, there are so many wonderful inspiring ideas all around you there. My eyes were in visual heaven, from the decorative lanterns to the mosaic tiles and colorfully painted terracotta tagine dishes, i wanted to fill my suitcase with all the pretty decor. Then, as i drove through the streets i couldn't help but think about this gorgeous iconic fashion shot, by Patrick Lichfield, of Talitha Getty and her husband on a rooftop in Marrakesh. I so desperately wished that i had a photographer, a wedding dress and a loved up couple with me so we could stop and take some fabulous photos (believe it or not i often have this thought when i travel to a place i find different and interesting).

This time last year Australian rules football player Chris Judd and model girlfriend Rebecca Twigley were busy preparing for their New Years Eve nuptials in Melbourne. The wedding of this super-gorgeous couple has gone to the top of my Australian celebrity weddings... this is definitely one of my most favourite.

Rebecca's J'Aton Couture gown is pure bridal candy... it's unbelievably exquisite and screams 'fashionista'. And then there are those bridesmaids dresses !!!... I die !! They are so sexy that there are moments where i thought they almost stole the attention away from the bride. This wedding is undeniably wedding fashion heaven !!... ohhhh and the groom doesn't look half bad either.

The New Years Eve celebration was nothing short of breath-taking. The Style Co. seriously worked their magic and created a spectacular affair. A five tier floral chandelier made from fluffy white hydrangra, peonies and romantic candles was the focal point of the room. Everything about this wedding was pure glamour, from the the invitation delivered in a box decorated with two gardenia flowers to the outdoor deck decorated with elegant white lounges, white flowers and over one hundred candles... it's all achingly stunning.

Wedding Invitation Keepsake

How gorgeous is this wedding keepsake?!!! What a wonderful way to commemorate a wedding by encapsulating the invitation in a Christmas bauble to hang on the tree every year. Just imagine the delight of rediscovering this sentimental piece amongst your Christmas decorations each year.... soooo sweet.

The best part is that you can easily make it yourself. Christy of From Glitter to Gumdrops blog shared the idea with easy how-to-steps. It's as simple as cutting the invitation into equal strips (ensuring that you keep visable the key information, names, date etc), wrapping them around a pencil to create lovely curls and then inserting them into a glass ornament. And voila... a beautiful ornament to honor a beautiful day.

I am mad crazy in love with this Tuscan inspired shoot photographed by Mike Larson. I adore the rustic Italian elements combined with the chic modern styling. Alchemy Fine Events & Invitations has done a superb job on this shoot. How divine are the ghost chairs, the stunning glass calligraphy name plates and the wine and cheese buffet. It just goes to show that your wedding doesn't have to be grand to be gob-smackingly glamorous. This shoot has made me want to book myself and a small handful of family and friends onto a flight to Italy and be married in this setting. This is magic !!

Luscious Lemon Wedding Theme

There's something else i forget to tell you about Positano in Italy... they are famous for their lemons. These are not just ordinary lemons, these babies seriously soak up the sun and are gigantic !!! As you stroll the quaint backstreets and small stores, you will find everything you can imagine... in lemon. From perfumes to soaps, candles and pottery items, there's lots of lovely souvenirs to remind you of your vacation. Positano Weddings - Bellisimo !!

I often get asked where i would get married if i was ever to do so (still waiting for that frog to turn into a prince if you know what i mean). The thing is, i think i would have to have more than one wedding... seriously... because not only would i not be able to pick just one dress, but i also could not live without having a ceremony on the Amalfi Coast in Italy... Positano to be exact!

Positano was once a sleepy fishing village, until tourist and celebrities discovered it's beauty (and of course, it was featured in the cult movie 'Only You' with Marisa Tomei. Who can forget that scene with Billy Zane in the pool of Le Sirenuse Hotel?) . With it's dramatically steep cliffs and stunning multi-coloured hillside buildings, Positano is the picture-perfect location for a destination wedding. La dolce vita !!!!

To make your marriage in Italy legal there's a few things you need to do...

Before you leave Australia: You'll need to get an Atto Notorio (Sworn Declaration) from the Italian Embassy or the Australian Consulate in the state where you live. You will both need to have your birth certificate with you, Australian passport and if you were married before, you will need evidence of the termination of the previous marriage.

Once in Italy: In addition to the Atto Notorio, you will need to make a Nulla Osta (Statutory Declaration) which must be signed in the presence of an Australian Consular officer at the Australian Embassy in Rome or Australian Consulate-General in Milan. A Nulla Osta literally states that 'there are no impediments', or that one is free to marry. The Nulla Osta must then be legalised by the Uffico Legalizzazioni of the Prefettura.

My idea for a wedding swing actually came via Tatler magazine. In June, at the Burberry Serpentine Summer Party, they created a wonderful photo booth swing! Now there's a new idea !! Jordan Almond Wedding Favors

A few weeks ago i was in the country of Jordan, which had me thinking about delicious sugar-coated Jordan almonds that you often see at weddings. Well... as it happens, these bittersweet candies have nothing to do with Jordan at all, and in fact date back to Italy. These pretty little candies have two elements to them, the fresh almond and the sugar coating. History says that the bittersweetness of the fresh almond represents life, and the sugar coating is added with the hope that the newlyweds life will be more sweet than bitter. Don't you just love it?!!

But before you go piling them into darling little decorative boxes, be aware of how many you share. In Italian weddings you must place five almonds to represent five wishes for the bride and groom... for health, wealth, happiness, fertility and longevity. In Greek weddings the koufeta, as they are known, are placed in bags in odd numbers and served on a silver tray. Odd numbers are indivisible, which symbolizes how the newlyweds will share everything and remain undivided. Tradition holds that if an unmarried woman puts them under her pillow she will dream of her future husband. At weddings in the Middle East, the almonds are considered aphrodisiacs and are always on hand. Have too many and you leave the reception early :)

No matter what the culture, Jordan almonds make cute wedding favors, and there are so many wonderful ways you can present them. Attach a little card with this Jordan almonds poem, and your guests will understand their true value and meaning.

Wedding dress designer extraordinaire, Vera Wang, has shocked the wedding world with her 2012 Fall Bridal Collection. Actually maybe we should just call it 'collection' because there was not a white dress insight, rather all non-traditional tones like nude and jet black. Vera described the collection as "both mysterious and sexy, frivolous and fun." In the past Vera's collections have always included a sprits of colour here and there, like soft grays, lavender and green, but this weeks show turned its back on the white dress completely. The sixteen piece collection did not show one single white or ivory gown, however, in true Vera Wang style, the design, fabric and styling of the collection was dreamy. But still, more of an evening wear collection than bridal wear to me. What are your thoughts?

It's A Boy Thing

More often then not, the boys take a sideline when it comes to weddings... but this doesn't have to be the case. I love the idea of having your photographer take some casual shots of your groom and his mates either the night before, or the morning of the wedding. I adore this image below of the guys sitting in the pool, and the one of them chilling on the deck chairs... Soooo hot !!! Here's another thought... if your guy is an avid surfer, or into cars or bikes, why not get some candid shots of the boys just being boys. Let's not forget girls, that this is the biggest day of your fiances life as well !! And surely it's a day you don't want him to forget! So, make sure you capture every bit of his excitement in his day too!!

Darb Bridal 'Matisse' Gown

I don't know what it is, but these damn Darb Bridal Couture gowns bring me to my knees everytime!! They bring out so many emotions in me, it's crazy! To look at designer Brad Webb's gowns on a computer screen, in a magazine or on the catwalk is one thing, but to get up close and personal with them is, oh my God a-mazing!! Every time i see a new gown in the window i notice something i never saw before (and that's coming from someone who is familiar with every single one of Brad's gowns... obsessed... yes!!). Like todays gown, Matisse, what i never noticed about her before, is that underneath the delicate layers of princess-pretty tulle, there are tiny little floral rose twirls mimicking the bodice. It is seriously stunning. A gown like this is fit only for the most wonderful of fashionista brides !!! Brad Webb you are seriously, ridiculously amazing !!

Desert Rose and a Peacock Chair

There's a few reasons why i'm writing this article today. The first is that it features a trend i've written about before and the second is that the photo shoot takes place in the desert. As i'm currently in Saudi Arabia, it all seems quite fitting and appropriate.

In May i wrote about my obsession for vintage peacock cane chairs, and it just so happens that photographer extraordinaire Jose Villa, jumped on the peacock chair trend and shot this stunning fashion feature for Rue magazine. With the delicate lace, the rich spice colours and the exotic majestic setting, all that is missing is the sound of Sting singing 'Desert Rose'... This desert rose, each of her veils, a secret promise. This desert flower, no sweet perfume ever tortured me like this...

Oh my goodness... these last two black and white shots are out-of-control amazing !! How superb would it be the host an engagement dinner styled like this shoot? Phenomenal !!!

If, like me, you are old enough to remember the hit song November Rain by Guns and Roses, you will also remember ogling over Stephanie Seymour in 'that' wedding dress!! I sat and watched the video over and over again, hoping that one day i too would walk down the aisle in an amazing dress like that (oh how my tastes have changed). Fast forward two decades and the latest music video wedding dress sensation is by Beyonce. In her latest song "Best Thing I Never Had", Beyonce plays a sexy bride dancing around firstly in sexy Agent Provocateur lingerie before changing into an opulent embellished wedding dress by Baracci Beverly Hills. I'm sure many young girls will be watching this video dreaming of being a beautiful bride just like Beyonce.

Looking the picture of bridal beauty, Beyonce's hair and make-up is impeccable. In the video her hair is styled in two cute bunches. A few times i think it looks a little Princess Leia -esque but once the veil is on, the style frames her face perfectly. Very sweet!

I have a real guilty pleasure when i am in London... and that is to go into the wonderful department store called Fortnum & Mason... it's a foodies paradise. Not surprising it is also the Royal families favourite food hall. Despite stocking a huge range of accessories, perfumes and homewares, the shop is famed for its amazing upmarket food hall stocked with gastronomic delights. What i love most about the store is of course the magnificent wedding cakes and cookies !! On my latest trip i found my dream wedding cake, i couldn't take my eyes off it... my jaw also dropped when i saw the price tag. Oh well, one can still dream.

Bridal Bouquet Photography

My beautiful girlfriend is currently planning her wedding and like most couples she is paying a small fortune for her photographer... an expense that i believe is a necessity. Keep in mind that it's your wedding photos that you will be looking at for years to come, so you want to get it right, and be happy with your choice. Which is why i suggest you make a scrapbook of the photos you want to replicate and show these to your photographer before your big day. When my girlfriend showed me the photographer she has booked, i thought the photography is fabulous, however some of the styles of shots are a bit out-dated... more specifically the shots of the bouquet, perfume and shoes sitting on the bed... very 1980's and not very 'fashionista bride'. So here is a collection of photos to show a modern way to photograph the bridal bouquet. Most commonly it's with the groom holding the bouquet, the bouquet sitting on a gorgeous chair, or a shot of the flowers with the bride holding them. You have to agree these images have a lot more character and emotion about them rather them just sitting on an old bed. Something to think about.

Tammin Sursok's Romantic Italian Wedding

Until i opened this weeks edition of Woman's Day magazine I had no idea who Tammin Sursok was (sorry, i don't watch soapies). I soon discovered that Tammin is a stunning, 28 year old Australian actress who stars in the US series Pretty Little Liars and The Young And The Restless. More importantly, this pretty little thing recently married the love of her life, director Sean McEwen.

I think it speaks volumes that so many celebrities choose to marry in Italy, which is exactly where this picture-perfect couple chose to wed. Set over three days, Tammin planned her magical nuptials in the romantic Italian city of Florence. For a small group of family and friends the couple hosted a series of dinners, cocktail parties and elegant breakfasts for their wedding celebrations.

Tammin looked like a doll in a lace bodiced, tulle skirt, Vera Wang gown, that she jokes "was more suited to a wedding of 200 people than their private ceremony of only 35". But proving my own sentiment, that every modern bride should wear two gowns, Tammin changed into a chantilly lace, Monique Lhuillier short dress to dance the bridal waltz to Steven Curtis Chapman's 'I will be there'.

As newly declared 'man and wife' the couple sat with their guests at one long table, surrounded by 150 votive candles, lanterns and a killer view of the city. Just to make sure they won't forget their wedding day in a hurry, the happy couple bought a puppy that they named Valentina, in honour of their Italian nuptials. Aaaahhhhh ... now this is La Dolce Vita !!

Glamorous Big Brisbane Greek Wedding

Brisbane's coffee king John Lazarou was completely buzzing recently... and it wasn't from too many espressos. In June, he joyfully walked his daughter Krysti, down the aisle as she married her beau Nick. What captured my eyes in this wedding was the divine cathedral, antique French lace veil. Something that her wedding dress designer and friend, Kerry Xynias, found whilst working in bridal couture in London. I am seriously envious over it. After filling the aisle with her spectacular veil, the newlyweds and guests headed to The Grand Ballroom at The Sofitel to dance the night away. This is really one glamorous big fat Greek wedding. Congratulations to the Lazarou family!
